Shortly before Christmas 2015, I entered the LinkedIn Skills Squad competition after seeing the invitation to enter in my LinkedIn folder. I duly submitted my profile for evaluation to the Skills Squad team for the opportunity to spend 2 days receiving personal coaching in Iceland with a team of elite coaches and executives from some of the world’s biggest businesses, including Dr Wladimir Klitschko. I’m not someone who enters a lot of competitions – perhaps I should start entering more! But I was inspired by the opportunity to work with the Skills Squad and I thought ‘you have to be in to win…’ Four weeks later, I received an email from the LinkedIn team inviting me to Iceland! To say I was stunned is an understatement. As we were informed by John Herlihy, MD of LinkedIn EMEA, not only had I won but I was was one of only six winners from over 60,000 entries! Our profiles were evaluated based on the strengths of our achievements to date and how they were expressed in our profiles. I’ve been using LinkedIn as a global networking platform since 2009 so to be recognised in this way was very fulfilling. The experience was out of this world! But most of all, I learned so many lessons and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you in the coming weeks.
